Certificate I in Leadership~ South Metropolitan Tafe with Gilmore College

Through delivering the Certificate I in Leadership at Gilmore College Kaitlyn created lessons for the students’ final project inspired by Rob Hopkins’ book “How to Fall in Love with the Future”.

Students were invited to respond to brief The Great Vertical Bush Blocks. In which they were to imagine it was 2030, the Western Australian Government has just completed the first stage of building affordable, high density housing for the state. In line with the Paris Agreement, these new homes had been designed to withstand the evolving drying climate, food insecurity and unpredictable seasons. Policy makers turned to the state’s best creative thinkers, recent graduates from Gilmore College’s Certificate I in Leadership to implement the second part of the initiative. Students designed an edible garden using endemic Western Australian flora resilient to the impacts of climate change occurring in Perth. Plants selected by students were also used to create educational merchandise from original art works.
