Melvistories- A Pack of Stories in the Palm of Your Hand

Through my role as City of Melville’s Museum Learning Creative Producer I worked with 233 year 2 and 3 students to explore the story and history of Meville’s unsung heroes including George Humes, Yagan, Midgegooroo, Bicton Greek Oyster Farmers, Rusty Walkley, Joan Winch, Alex George, John Kee Fong, Winnifred Fong, Shirley Strickland, Alison Harris and Djunda The Charnock Woman

Students drew portraits of the different people they learnt about, then one portrait from each class was chosen to be used to create a historical resource for the community and school in the form of a pack of cards.

All works were then exhibited as part of the City’s 2023 Story Lines Festival at A H Bracks.

The cards were launched on Friday, 13 October see photos below.
